Tessa Wunder Intern Designer
Tessa is a landscape architecture student at Ohio State University who has experience working on public park planning and environmental education. During her time at OSU, she learned that taking a 'nature first’ approach to design can create spaces where humans connect to themselves and the world around them. She is drawn toward landscape architecture’s ability to provide experiences through all senses and evoke emotions that remind us what it means to be human. She believes access to the outdoors is a human right and wants to use her skills to create third spaces that allow for joy and play. She recognizes the genius of a place and knows community engaged planning builds the foundation for successful and evolving landscapes.Stemming from this idea, she is passionate about using regionally native plants that help heal and benefit local wildlife. She believes the key to more sustainable design is through education and exposure to different practices. Tessa is on the executive board for the Society for Ecological Restoration and aims to enact this belief by teaching her peers at OSU about Ohio flora/fauna and rejuvenating sites around campus affected by ecosystem disturbances.Tessa doesn’t leave the outdoors at work. She can be found tending to her indoor plants or out on a hike collecting little pieces of nature to take home with her.
