Nangorlee Demenwu Director of Communications

Nangorlee is passionate about the well-being of people and the spaces we are meant to fill. Whether that means physical or metaphorical spaces, she is inspired by the potential design has to enrich the world by stitching individual stories into a broader narrative.

Her whimsical upbringing included countless weekends browsing through her father’s architectural print collection, sketching new worlds, and writing stories about the people that inhabited them. Those early interests led Nangorlee to Temple University to study architectural design. She quickly discovered not only was she intrigued by the design of space, but had grown great fervor for community building and telling stories of those who may not have the means to share for themselves. She then pivoted, earning a degree in Strategic Communication with a focus on Rhetoric and Public Advocacy.

Nangorlee’s career has since molded her into a dynamic communications professional with roles in storytelling for international relations and humanities nonprofit organizations. Prior to Unknown Studio, Nangorlee found intersectionality between design and narrative building in her business development role at KieranTimberlake in Philadelphia, PA.

While she believes in being a catalyst for the change we want to see, Nangorlee envisions a world that is more equipped for sustainable living. Through sharing stories of impact, she aims to emphasize the urgency for healthy, resilient, and equitable communities. Nangorlee is enthusiastic about finding ways to connect the dots between user needs and design solutions. Extracurricularly, Nangorlee’s joy revolves around her curious mind—traveling often, wandering museums, cooking new recipes, discovering new music, and exploring local coffee shops
