Senior Landscape Architect Lisa DuRussel was raised in a family of farmers in rural Michigan, giving her a formative respect and commitment to the sophistication and complexities of nature and cultivation at a young age.

As a Senior Landscape Architect at Unknown Studio, Lisa draws from 14 years of professional experience, coupled with a passion for horticulture and agriculture. Prior experience includes project leadership positions with West 8 urban design + landscape architecture, Future Green Studio, MNLA New York, and Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects Chicago.

Lisa leads design and technical development on a breadth of landscape design projects, from regenerative soil and horticultural design to complex urban landscapes on structure. Her work has been published for the Landscape Architecture Foundation, and in Landscape Architecture Magazine, World Landscape Architecture, and Metropolis POV. Lisa received both her Bachelor of Science in Resource Ecology & Environmental Policy and her Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan. In addition to her contributions as at Unknown Studio, Lisa serves as an assistant professor of landscape architecture and practitioner-in-residence at Penn State University and consults via her independent consulting firm, Site Science.
